We believe that application developers should not have to work around the limitations of eventual consistency or the bare-bones functionality of ultra-fast Key-Value stores. In an ideal world, we must combine the full potential of NoSQL with the strengths of SQL. We doubt this will instantly bring world peace, but it would certainly make scaling the world wide web easier and far more efficient!

Why are we not all using NoSQL in 'the Cloud' already? It’s all well and good promising the world with a fantastic new scalable database technology that everyone should and will for sure be using for a faster, more efficient web. The real magic is making such technology usable today.

The practical reality is that adopting something as critical as a new database platform without easy ways to trial, integrate and work alongside your existing platform is only going to meet with resistence. As developers ourselves having built sites of every shape and size since the web began, we understand this. Our product vision is to make GenieDB technology accessible to all databases. The first productisation of GenieDB is our own MySQL pluggable storage engine. We have applied our replication and consistency technology to address the serious issues facing multi-master LAMP implementations. 'GenieDB for MySQL' is the first of many planned implementations of our technology to help users of current database platforms - making immediate consistency, full multi-master replication and self-healing available to development communities, without disruption.
